Health Network Award for My Health Guide

A digital health application designed to help adults living with learning disabilities to communicate more effectively has been recognised with the Performance through Partnership award at the recent Yorkshire & Humber Academic Health Science Network (AHSN) Innovation, Improvement and Impact Conference and Awards.

The My Health Guide app, designed by London tech firm Maldaba Ltd, is currently nearing the end of a one year trial with Humber NHS Foundation Trust involving 200 adults. Initial statistics from the trial have revealed a 30% reduction in burden on health services.

Maldaba co-founder Lorenzo Gordon collected the award and commented: “This is another great milestone and another award for My Health Guide after collecting an award at Health Expo 2016.

“The award is recognition of the very effective partnerships that have gone into developing the app involving users, healthcare professionals with Humber NHS Foundation Trust, Humber’s care partners, service users and the team at Maldaba.

“The impact so far based on initial findings has been very encouraging with users able to manage their health conditions more effectively and communicate their needs leading to a significant reduction in healthcare visits and hospital admissions.

“The most encouraging aspect is undoubtedly the empowerment and control over their lives that it gives adults living with learning disabilities.

“The digital health revolution is in full flow and we’re delighted that My Health Guide is in the vanguard of that technology,” added Lorenzo.

Further details of the award can be found on the Yorkshire & Humber Academic Health Science Network website.

Founded in 2002, Maldaba is a software company based in London that specialises in web-based and mobile applications for the public and non-profit sectors.
